The Sophomore E students of DLSZ experienced their Outreach last August 13, 2013 with their adviser, Ms. Melissa Cruz and some moderators. It was held in GK Eldorado, a small Gawad Kalinga community found in Parañaque. Many were worried on the whether or not said event will be cancelled due to heavy rain that morning, but fortunately, the rain stopped just in time for them to resume with their activity.
The students' recollection, which was originally scheduled last August 12, was postponed due to the effects of typhoon Maring. The outreach, luckily, was not cancelled. Rain was hard early in the morning, but stopped just in time for the outreach. The weather was good all throughout the day, making the outreach even more enjoyable.
When the students got there, they were welcomed by the warm greetings of their fosters parents and led them to the meeting hall in where the student pairs met their assigned families. They were given time to get to know each one of their family members even cooked lunch for them. Each pairs made different meals like carbonara, pork chop, chicken, and many more. Afterwards, the students were asked to go back to the meeting hall where they were divided into three groups: the ones to host the games, GK Build and Arts & Crafts. At the end of the day, the students shared their experiences with their families and all the new information they learned about their families and realizations. They also mentioned numerous values they learned like: appreciating what they have and being contented and thankful for the blessings they have.
